(klaineAU) Kurt and Blaine are from Ohio’s top rivaling show choirs and are forced to have a secret relationship behind their friends’ backs
It was Saturday morning – coffee date morning for Kurt and Blaine. Although it was Saturday and Blaine housed at Dalton Academy School for Boys, he always wore the uniform instead of casual clothing. Although Kurt couldn’t really complain because the boy looked so sexy in the uniform, but the very idea of Blaine in tight jeans and a shirt…Kurt was grateful now that he had his own room since his dad and Finn’s mother got married. Kurt was a member of McKinley’s glee club New Directions and Blaine was the lead soloist for The Warblers, and they were competing against each other. To make matters worse, they were the top show choirs in all of Ohio. The two boys sat in silence, comfortable silence. They had been dating for the last few weeks and they were coming up with their one month anniversary – but odds were they would not be able to spend it together without someone seeing them. The coffee shop they met was just outside of Lima and Westerville – less chance of any of their friends seeing them together. While Kurt knew that his step-brother Finn would understand Kurt wanting to be with Blaine because he would want to be supportive, but everybody else would have their own opinions. Blaine’s friends would probably support him but the others would definitely have words as well.
“Penny for your thoughts?” Kurt asked breaking out of his thoughts and Blaine’s. He smiled at his boyfriend.
“Just thinking…pretty soon we’ll be coming up to our one month anniversary,” Blaine remarked. Kurt knew this and it made him a little sad. Kurt put his coffee cup aside and leaned forward on the coffee table.
“I know…” Kurt started. “I hate that we have to sneak around behind their backs. New Directions are my best friends and I know the Warblers are yours. I feel like Romeo and Juliet.” Blaine smiled warmly at his boyfriend.
“Oh come on. You know that Mercutio had a thing for Romeo and Romeo secretly loved him. Why do you think he fell out of love with Rosaline so quickly and moved onto Juliet at first glance? Mercutio was always there when it happened. If you ask me, they are the real star-crossed lovers,” Blaine said as if he had just solved some long overdue mystery. Kurt just shook his head but he couldn’t hold back the laughter. Blaine laughed along with Kurt, satisfied that he could make his boyfriend laugh in a somewhat sad situation.
“I won’t look at that play the same again,” Kurt remarked as he calmed himself.
“I wrote an essay on their secret love for each other. Oddly enough, I got an A. My teacher said it was most interesting essay she had ever read on the play in years,” Blaine added. Kurt just looked lovingly at Blaine.
“It’s just so difficult…” Kurt said softly. Blaine put his coffee aside.
“But don’t you think you think that our epic forbidden romance is worth it, though?” Blaine said half jokingly but also half serious. Kurt sighed and smiled.
“You are so cheesy Blaine Anderson,” Kurt answered.
“But you love it,” Blaine retorted. Kurt nodded.
“I do. And you are right. You are worth it, Blaine. You are the best thing that ever happened to me,” Kurt said sincerely. Blaine reached over and grabbed a hold of Kurt’s hand.
“You are the best thing that’s ever happened to me as well Kurt. And I know it’s difficult keeping this a secret, believe me I’m right there with you. So, why don’t we enjoy this coffee date like always, and we’ll talk more about how we will come out to our friends…well you know what I mean…” Blaine said as he gave Kurt’s hand a little squeeze. Kurt smiled and landed his free hand on top of Blaine’s.
“Let’s talk about our one month anniversary first. I’d like to keep you to myself just for a little while longer,” Kurt said slyly. Blaine grinned.
“Sounds like a plan to me,” Blaine said softly. Kurt brought Blaine’s hand to his lips and kissed it lightly. Their friends had to know soon, but for right now, they just wanted to be Romeo and…well be Mercutio and their secret love. Kurt smiled at the thought – he may just have to consider Blaine’s theory.
